Happy 3rd Birthday Sweeties - Part 2 ;-)
These are the cakes for my sweeties' nursery celebration, I try to keep it simple as long as able to meet my sweeties' expectations (with their favorite characters' trademark).
In order to get the cake ready in time, I chose this recipe (steam version of Moist Chocolate Cake) which was adapted from JoDeli blog - its the easiest/simplest recipe thus far (among all the recipes I have at this moment). The recipe is for a 9" pan but instead I make it in a 8" pan (the extra batter was used in a mini heart shape pan).
The 8'' cake was halved evenly, then filled and frosted with Mousseline Buttercream thereafter decorated with rainbow icing and marshmallow. Viewing the cakes' deco, just felt that something need to be added, what was missing?.. Cake Topper!.. I got the sample picture from the web and printed using photo paper, to make a cake topper for each. (Did not manage to take a front view photos as the children were all crowded in front ^^)
When the cakes were placed on the table, they were so excited and all can't wait to taste the cakes especially the alphabets, hahaha. Chocolate flavor cake is always the most favored by all age especially kiddos!.. They love it! Not only the cakes, they wanted the icing decoration too (all the alphabet icing were gone!).. Kids~
Verdict: This cake is really moist and chocolatey! It can be consumed easily without any filling..
